For years, whenever someone asked me who I was, I replied, “I’m Pablo,” and almost immediately, “I’m an entrepreneur.”
Founding Frontity, growing it, and finally hitting our goal of selling it to Automattic so we could make our vision real has been, without a doubt, one of the experiences that has defined me the most.
It took me quite a bit of time to find myself again and come up with an answer to the question of who I am. “Being an entrepreneur” had been my identity since I was 22, and after the exit it was hard to say I was an “employee”. Luckily, time has taught me to give those labels less weight.
Now I know that what I really enjoy is taking on complex problems, learning new things, and somehow almost always ending up finding a way to solve them. For the past five years, Automattic has been the perfect place to feed that curiosity and stretch what I can do.
So these days, when someone asks who I am, I still say “I’m Pablo.” What comes after depends on the day, and I’m fine with that.
Update: I’ve published the second part of this post -> Don’t forget you are a founder
